The Kamasutra of Vatsyayana
The Kamasutra of Vatsyayana
by Vatsyayana
Translated by Richard Burton, Bhagavanlal Indrajit, and Shivaram Parashuram Bhide
Long before The Joy of Sex, Masters and Johnson, or Dr. Ruth, there was Vatsyayana’s The Kama Sutra, or “Aphorisms on Love.” This ancient text, translated from Sanskrit into English in the nineteenth century by Sir Richard Burton, along with Bhagavanlal Indragit and Shivaram Parashuram Bhide, has stood the test of time as a thoughtful treatise on the art of lovemaking.
In 1,250 verses divided into seven parts and thirty-six chapters, The Kama Sutra contemplates everything from the “courtship, and the manifestation of the feelings by outward signs and deeds” to “the ways of exciting desire.” An insightful consideration of the connections between sensual pleasure and spiritual enlightenment, this classic work presents a sincere and civilized approach to sexuality that modern readers will find refreshing and inspirational.

Evaluation
I have reviewed this app for a week. On first load it failed to load the entire document but a quick restart and it was all there. Introduction was informative to give the reader a bit of a pre-requisite on the material along with the information in the general remarks section. Page transition is great. it was responsive from left to right and felt smooth as the page changed. Page transition speed was decent based on other apps I have tried [ we all want everything to run faster] Being able to tap to page thru faster is excellent and functioned well. Seems the area to move forward in the document is using less space than if moving backwards. If the center of the screen is tapped it moves backward, where I would prefer moving forward to be a default expectation. Navigating by use the content menu was quick and easily navigable. Text is easily read and informative. The sound functioned well and fit well with the page transition. Overall the app itself function really well. Bookmark feature functioned well. Easily to navigate and return where the reader left off.
Cons: Splash screen could be more artistic. We all like eye candy and it is not really a complaint. Overall the app was great.
I found the notes and they were informative in providing information on words or ideas associated with them. I am not sure how many others would look for them before finishing the text. You may want to add something to describe what is in the notes more or change it to describe what is there better for a broader based reader understanding.
I greatly appreciate the opportunity to evaluate this app.
Good Job on the upgrade to the icon and the splash screen - well done
